Independent: Early California Paintings by Annie Harmon, Mary
DeNeale Morgan and Marion Kavanagh Wachtel--Hearst Gallery, St. Mary's
College, Moraga, CA, July 25-September 19, 2010
After a long and persistent campaign, my Texas friend Karen Pope and
her devoted collector friend Betty Williams, both of Austin,
persuaded St. Mary's College, Moraga, California, to have an exhibition
of the works of Betty's beloved artist, Annie Harmon
(1855-1930).
As the theme of the show, The Hearst Gallery at the College decided to
focus on three women artists, one of them Annie Harmon, who had studied
with the renowned California painter, William Keith. Karen
and
Betty persuaded me to write the essay on Annie for the catalogue, and
then to give a talk to open the exhibition on Sunday, July 25,
2010. So here's the material about the exhibition and
catalogue!
